Thank you
5 Nov

A huge big thank you to everyone for making yesterday’s 10th FÍS Film Festival such a wonderful day. A lot of work goes on behind the scenes, both at a local level and centrally in PDST Technology in Education and IADT, and if often goes unacknowledged. Let’s acknowledge it now!

A special thank you to Education Centre Directors across the country who support schools and teachers working with the FÍS methodology. This is so important. Thank you also to Michelle Herron in PDST Technology in Education and Linda O’Sullivan in IADT who are the people that make the festival happen each year.

Lastly, thank you to all the teachers and pupils involved. Without you, and your creativity, enthusiasm and drive, there would be no FÍS Film Project. Keep up the good work!

Two schools win top award in 2014
4 Nov

For the first time ever, two schools have been awarded the top prize at this year’s FÍS Film Festival. It is unprecedented! Behy National School in Mayo (“Battle of Ardnaree”) and Carrigaline Educate Together in Cork (“Power Out”) shared the top accolade, the Aileen MacKeogh Award for Outstanding Achievement in Film-making.

Well done to all the schools who won awards in the FÍS Film Festival this year.

Up, up and away – it’s the Big Day!

Yes, the big day has finally arrived! The day of the 10th FÍS Film Festival is upon us and we are all super excited here in DCU. Have a look at the design of our “uplifting” set …

The stage of the 2014 FÍS Film Festival

We can’t wait to meet and greet all the children, their teachers and parents at the Helix. Sinéad Kennedy and Eoghan McDermott (from RTÉ) will be hosting the show and our Minister for Education and Skills, Jan O’Sullivan, TD, will be presenting the top prize later on this afternoon.
