FÍS Film Project
Introducing film into the primary classroom

Session 10

All Diary Entries

The squirrel’s ‘sad’ head is missing! The bicycle has been saved to a different folder and can’t be opened. There’ll be days like this …

Sometimes it seems like everything is going wrong and frustration levels in both teachers and pupils is high. On the bright side, it gives pupils real opportunities to problem solve, to find solutions where we genuinely don’t know the answers in advance. Film-making in the classroom can develop higher order thinking skills. As pupils film, they constantly evaluate and analyse each frame. Hands and paws go missing, eyes forget to blink, tyres go wobbly, backgrounds move… EXPECT TO MAKE MISTAKES. No one starts with perfection and the real learning and teaching opportunities take place within the experimentation.
